Resident doctors suspend strike

The Federal Government on Thursday commended members of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) for suspending their strike.
Accodring to a statement issued by the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu, the government commended the doctors for keeping their promise to suspend the strike following the agreement reached with the government.
It said the decision to suspend the strike was reached at the two-day stakeholders' meeting with the leadership of the association.
The statement quotes Wogu as applauding the leadership of the association for keeping faith with the resolution reached at the stakeholders' leadership.
It assured the association that the present administration of President Goodluck Jonathan would continue to ensure industrial harmony and maintain a dialogue.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the association suspended the strike at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
