In his very first interview since the untimely death of his wife and Branama queen, Kefee, on June 13th, Teddy Don Momoh, says there are uncountable things he will miss about his wife of over two years and also shared her last moments on earth with Encomium magazine
“I can’t say I am going to miss her because there are uncountable things to miss. She was a complete, Godly, highly intelligent and strong woman. All these I will miss and also not having her by my side forever. She was a woman that knew what to say to me to keep me fired up. The last memories we had together were shared between Nigeria and America. We shot our first video together here in Nigeria as certified video producers and directors. It was fun to see her contribute highly and creatively in the camera positioning and I told her ” You are what the industry has been waiting for”. This happened a day before she traveled back to America” he said. Continue…
Teddy who made his first public appearance after her death and burial at the recently held Encomium Black and White party says his team is working to ensure that her unreleased album which she was working on before she passed on is released. He said this while speaking about her unfulfilled dreams
“Before her untimely death, she was working on her beautiful album from the best of both world compilation double CD and I would be putting finishing touches to the album. She had two projects for her foundation that she was working on before she travelled. But by God’s Grace, the team would bring it to realization. Also watch out for her video compilation that our team would be dropping soon. She left her legacy and I am asking her fans to support her even now as we drop songs on iTunes and CD for public consumption” he said

"I Do not owe you any explanation - Minister who approved Patrick Sawyer's trip to Nigeria

Liberia's deputy finance minister, Sebastian Muah Omar, has been criticised for approving  Patrick Sawyer's trip to Nigeria, despite health officials placing him on Ebola danger list . In a heated conversation on Facebook as tracked by  'concerned Liberians.org' ,Omar defended his action harshly . This happened when the news just came to light....

Sebastian Muah: Omar you are being disingenuous with your last comments. The man was on NO watch list. I approved his travel. He emailed us several weeks earlier that his sister had died from the disease and that he had asked that his blood be taken for testing. That test result did not come back positive. So to say someone made him travel and exposed him to others is pure hate and mis-use of a tragedy that have somehow brought the message home to the many who are in denial of this deadly disease, which by the way has NO CURE.
    5 hrs
Omar Tariq Omar Tariq: Mr. Muah, well he lied to you that his blood test came back negative. Did you every ask for his official report of the blood test Sabastian? If his sister died from Ebola and he was in contact with her, your health official have advised that you be on a 21 day watch list, did you bother to ask Sabastian? You see you should have never responded because now there are questions to answer since you approved his travels. Again did you request a copy of his Blood test that ruled him out, because he lied to you.
Sebastian Muah: Am I a medical Doctor? I will respond when angry Liberians try to make an uncalled for statement about a tragic situation.

Omar Tariq: No shate the virus has NO CURE SABASTIAN MUAH, this is why as his superior you should have taken every precaution to limit his exposure to the public and your international partners.

Omar Tariq :Mr. Muah did you see his blood test results or did he just simple tell you it was negative? As his superior if a man tells you his sister died from ebola and he could have been exposed do you not think it is your duty to ask the hard questions or maybe you could have reported this to the health officials? Stop making silly excuses as to not being his doctors. This does not excuse you from asking the questions as a Government official that would safeguard the lives of our citizens and your International Partners. It is your duty, again Government official not wanting to go above and beyond his duty to safe guard our population.
Sebastian Muah: Omar Tariq a friend is dead, I DO NOT OWE YOU any explanation on your monday night quarter backing. POS was a public health practitioner if you MUST KNOW. The Uganda doctor was a MEDICAL DOCTOR if you again MUST KNOW. They are no longer. So the freaking issue is not why he lied or didn't lie to travel. But how we address the freaking disease. IF you don't have jack to say in that direction then frankly shut up on the subject.

Sebastian Muah: Don't have time today frankly for your rants

Omar Tariq : Oh hell yes you do owe Liberians and the International community an explanation Sebastian Muah, this is the complete arrogance of you people in Government. How dare you tell us such nonsense. You have through your negligence of not asking the proper questions exposed others to such a horrible Virus and you on here talking bull. A friend is dead I am sorry but you have some answering to do since you want to brag that you approved his travels.
Sebastian Muah: they old people say empty drum can't make noise. So you will be talking by yourself as I see you don't know what you are talking about and as a matter of finding solution you DO NOT HAVE any but trying to find blame. WOW. Someone must have frustrated the hell out of you in Liberia O.... Take me to the international court since I am guilty of approving a travel.

Ebola: Two more Nigerians die after drinking & bathing with HOT salt water

To prevent being infected with the deadly Ebola virus, two people in Makurdi, Benue who believed salt could help prevent contracting the virus have been confirmed dead.
Ebola-salt
If you recall, less than a week ago, two people died while twenty were hospitalised after excessive consumption of salt in Jos.

Dr Joseph Kumba, Director, Public Health in the Ministry of Health and Human Services confirmed the report.
“We got the report at a meeting today (Wednesday 13th August) that two persons died at Ushakaa clinic as a result of drinking and bathing with hot salted water.” he said.
The Medical Director of Ushakaa Hospital Dr Innocent Gbillah said it was a male and a female.
Gbillah did not disclose the names of the deceased but said they were admitted into the hospital on Saturday.
“We did everything possible to help the victims but to no avail. One of them died on Tuesday at 7 pm while the other gave up the ghost at 5 am Wednesday (yesterday).” he said.

Ebola: Patrick Sawyer thought his life would be saved in Nigeria - Wife explains why he left Liberia

patrick sawyer and wife

Late Patrick Sawyer's widow, has revealed why her husband visited Nigeria knowing full well that he had been infected with the deadly Ebola virus.
She explained hat her husband’s decision to travel to Nigeria, was because of his desperate search for a country with better healthcare system.

Decontee Sawyer, who is a radio host in New York, explained that Mr. Sawyer had no trust in the healthcare system in Liberia and had headed to Nigeria with the hope of receiving better treatment for his ailment.

Sharing her thoughts on her Facebook profile, she wrote “I’ve read other reports in other papers (not the New York Times) about Patrick’s “recklessness.” I get where they’re coming from, and they certainly have the right to feel the way they do. However, as Patrick’s widow, I would like to shed some light on this from another perspective. One that only I, his wife, would know,”
“I knew Patrick better than anybody else (including himself). He had told me many times in the past how much he didn’t trust the Liberian healthcare system. He would tell me about how a person would get checked in for one thing, and get misdiagnosed and get the wrong treatment as a result. On top of that, Patrick was a clean freak, and told me how filthy a lot of the hospitals were.

“He didn’t tell me this, but I know in my heart of hearts that Patrick was determined to get to Nigeria by all means because he felt that Nigeria would be a place of refuge. He has expressed to me many times in the past that he felt passionately about helping to be a part of strengthening Liberia’s healthcare system, but he knew it wasn’t there yet, and he wouldn’t want to take a chance with his life because a lot of people depended on him…Patrick had a passion for life, and he wouldn’t have wanted his life to end. So, I bet anything that he was thinking, if I could only get to Nigeria, more developed country than Liberia, I would be able to get some help. How ironic.”

On Monday in Abuja, President Goodluck Jonathan described Mr Sawyer’s decision to travel to Nigeria in harsh words.
“Sawyer that brought this Ebola to Nigeria; his sister died of Ebola”, he said. “And he started acting somehow, his country asked him not to leave the country, let them observe him, but the crazy man decided to leave and found his way here.”
But in her post, Mrs. Sawyer wrote that the fact that her husband avoided contact with others at the James Sprigg Payne’s Airport in Monrovia as revealed by airport CCTV footage proved he didn’t set out to infect others with the disease and perhaps his actions were that of a dying man in desperate search for help.

“It has been reported that Patrick avoided physical contact with everyone he came across during his trip from Liberia to Nigeria. When he got to Nigeria, he turned himself in letting them know that he had just flown in from Liberia.
“Patrick went to Nigeria for help so that he can get properly diagnosed, and not misdiagnosed in Liberia. And if it came back that he did have Ebola, he trusted the Nigerian healthcare system a lot more than he trusted the Liberian’s. His action, as off as it was, was a desperate plea for help. Patrick didn’t want to die, and he thought his life would be saved in Nigeria.”

Mrs. Sawyer further criticized the Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, comment that Mr Sawyer was indiscipline and disrespectful for failing to heed medical advise not to travel.
She insisted that if President Johnson-Sirleaf had fixed the healthcare system in Liberia, her husband would not have left in search of treatment elsewhere.
“I write today, not simply because of Patrick, but because of the broken healthcare system in the Liberia, and the government’s inability under President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (and other past Presidents) to fix it. Good doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers aren’t given the support they need to save lives.

“President Sirleaf went on CNN News throwing stones at Patrick, a man who can no longer defend himself, a man who worked tirelessly for Liberia. She should be ashamed of herself. I use to admire this woman, and was excited and proud of her accomplishment as the first woman President in the entire continent of Africa. She will always own that. We will always own that. It can’t be taken away from her. It’s something to be proud of. But this woman has failed her country”, she concluded.

EBOLA:Patrick Sawyer actually avoided bodily contact on the flight to Nigeria

Sawyer Ebola victim

We now know that Patrick Sawyer's  employers and the Liberian government knew he had Ebola, yet still allowed to leave Liberia. As a matter of fact, he was cleared to travel by his friend, who is a deputy minister in Liberia. Sawyer was acutely aware of his condition when he also boarded the flight to Nigeria for a conference in Calabar.

According to Liberian newspaper, The New Dawn, which monitored the CCTV footage recorded at Monrovia’s James Spriggs Payne’s Airport, Monrovia, Sawyer looked “terribly ill” before he boarded the 20 July Asky Airline plane to Lagos He reportedly wore a “sad countenance“ and was obviously in severe pain.
Apparently overtaken by “excruciating pain,” he, at a point, laid flat on his stomach on the floor in the corridor of the airport.
According to the paper, Mr. Sawyer sat alone all through the time he was boarding the flight and avoided bodily contact with other passengers who were close to him at the boarding gate in Monrovia.

Mr. Sawyer became severely ill on the plane and was taken to First Consultant Hospital, Obalende, from the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos. He died there on 24 July.

For some yet unclear reason, Sawyer and his highly placed friends in the Liberian government were insistent on his visiting Calabar. First, reports indicate he did not escape from isolation as reported by some news media. According to those, the officials were more concerned about ensuring he got to his Calabar conference.

Also the hospital in which he died, First Consultant Hospital had issued a statement confirming that it had to resist huge pressure from Liberian government officials who wanted him to be discharged, and claimed he had a crucial role to play in that talkshop.

Graphic: Heartbreaking pics from the war between Israel & Palestine

The war between Israel and Palestine has entered Day 28 and what's happening there is sickening. Over half a million people in Gaza city have been rendered homeless with 270,000 crammed into 90 crowded UN shelters, some of which have had no running water and electricity. At least 1,700 Palestinians have been killed while 69 Israelis have been killed. Shelters full of children in Gaza have been bombed, medical supplies have run out, many hospitals damaged and medics are unable to go to work. Many UN facilities sheltering displayed Palestinians, especially women and children have been hit, killing so many little children in the city.

The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been going on for decades but this particular one started on July 17th after Gaza attacked Israel with rockets following failed peace negotiations. Israel replied with both air and ground invasion of Gaza City....and the world is just watching.

Nigerian doctor who treated Liberian man tests positive to Ebola virus

One of the Nigerian doctors who treated Liberian Patrick Sawyer (pictured right) who died last week in Lagos of Ebola virus, has tested positive to the virus.
The Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, revealed this today Monday August 4th and also said that eight people who had first degree contact with the Liberian have been quarantined and are under strict observation.
Now after attending to Sawyer, this doctor, unaware that he'd exposed himself to Ebola, would have gone home to give his wife a kiss and hugged his daughter/son. God help us. More details later...
