The
remains of renowned evangelist and Founder, World Soul Winning
Evangelical Ministry, Prophet Timothy Obadare, were committed to mother
earth at 11am in Ileki area of Ilesa, on Saturday.
Ilesa literally stood still for several
hours as dignitaries from all walks of life converged to pay their last
respect to the preacher noted for his frankness and uprightness.
Many members of his church, admirers and
sympathisers meandered their ways to the revival ground on foot because
of traffic gridlock.
Hawkers had a field day doing brisk business, selling sachet water, soft drinks, snacks and memorabilia.
Members of the Christ Apostolic Church
from all walks of life converged on the venue of the funeral service to
bid Obadare farewell in grand style.
Speaking at the burial ground, Osun
State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, described the departed cleric as a
symbol of truth and spirituality, adding that Obadare rose beyond ocular
disability to etch his name in gold.
Aregbesola said, “Prophet Obadare was an
epitome of wisdom in the evangelistic world and his legacies will
remain indelible on the sand of time. The lesson his departure taught us
is that any position you are, dedication and faithfulness are necessary
for success to be guaranteed.
“His life taught us that whatever
obstacle that comes one’s way should not debar but must strengthen one’s
resolve to be successful. What God endows us to do, we must do it with
our best ability.”
Aregbesola stressed that the life and
times of the Ilesa-born prophet had several lessons for people,
especially the upcoming generations, saying that the dedication he
demonstrated in managing his ministry and winning souls for Christ
should be emulated by everyone.
The Deputy Governor, Mrs. Titi
Laoye-Tomori, said the economic benefit of having the final resting
place of Obadare in the state was enormous because of tourism potential
it had, adding that the benefit would translate into huge tourism
potential for Osun.
A preacher, Bishop Sam Thompson, said an
endowment for the establishment of a television station would be
established in the memory of the departed evangelist, adding that the
proposed television station would air Obadare’s teachings.
