It is worrisome and heart breaking to see women
involved in atrocities such as baby factories,
stealing, buying and selling of toddlers, women need to be reminded that they
are
the mothers of
the world.
Ordinarily, there are things/places you wouldn’t
find a woman do/be due to their
Fragile-like
nature, even the bible refers to women as a weaker vessel, but these days,
poverty, desperation and quest for quick money have hardened the hearts of a
lot of women.
It is absurd
and strange, when a woman buys her fellow woman’s child/children, all in the
name of desperation to have one, a neighbor equally steals and sells another woman’s
child/children.
I still find it hard to believe that there are some
women out there who initiate fake pregnancies even when they know that they can
be subjected to a DNA TEST at any time for any reason. This new madness gives
reasons for concerns and makes me ask these questions:
1. What does it take to legally adopt a
child?
2. How long does it take to process adoption of a child? And lastly,
3. What has happened to a woman’s soft
heartedness/ conscience?
The rising
incidence of baby factories among other ones should attract more attention than
it does. Its high time women’s forum (local& international) stand firm to show
their displeasure about this. I am also using this medium to call on all
concerned agencies/organization, government and non government groups, such as Africans Unite
Against Child Abuse (AFRUCA), Women Environmental Program (WEP), Children And
Human Rights Organization, National Agency for Traffic in Person, Media Concern
Initiative For Women And Children, etc.
Child adaptation
process should be reviewed by the relevant agencies, adequate awareness
programs on child adoption should be conceived, constantly broadcast nationwide
through the appropriate channels. Information and Orientation
ministries/agencies should look into this growing trend. I want to assume that
the learned people involved in this act were not properly informed, or were not
at regular interval reminded about child adaptation.
From all
gathered on this issue, the prices at which newly born babies/toddlers are being
commercialized vary.
In a baby
factory, a female child is being sold between N50, 000 to N300, 000, while a
male child is sold between N80, 000 to N350, 000.
Couples involved
in toddler theft sell for about N200, 000, while the end user purchases at N600,
000. Miracle babies sell between N1.8 million-N2.7 million in the case of a set
of twins or triplets respectively. Why will someone spend so much money just to
own a child that is not theirs in the first instance? These people where
misinformed and this is a good reason to educate the public about child
adoption in other to prevent waiting parents/ mothers not to fall a victim.
My last question: what happened to a
woman’s soft heartedness/Conscience should call for a sober reflection. The
rate at which women are involved in crime these days’ calls for urgent
attention. African women are known to be strong, positive, enduring, religious,
affectionate, hardworking, loving, caring and emotional. A woman’s soft spot
feels the pains of other women. All these are not applicable to women anymore;
poverty has damaged so many women beyond repair.
United
Nations International Children Emergency Fund( UNICEF),World Health
Organization (WHO), United Nations For Society Organization(UNFSO) together with
other information and orientation groups should rise up to revive women’s heart.
This is a wake –up call to all First Ladies in our country (Nigeria).I implore
all’’ her Excellencies” in the federation to put aside their differences and
tackle this challenge as one. I believe more can be achieved with the
co-operation of the three tiers of government.
More poverty
eradication schemes should be introduced and encouraged.”An idle mind is the
devils workshop”, they say. Help get our women busy and engaged all the time.
More of Women development centers should be initialized, short and long term
loans with friendly interest rates should be made available to those who
consider trading but have no capital.
Worship centers cannot be left out of
this as they also have a huge role to play, Support morally, spiritually,
physically, emotionally, psychologically and financially is a good one. Joining
hands with the society will help to overcome this trend; worship centers leaders
should be receptive to the feelings of the congregation. Counseling and word of encouragement is most
needed in a trying period, the right words will help to guide the heart
diligently. Clergy men/women need to be sensitive to the mood and heart of the needy
ones among their followers.

sis, this is a nice write-up. But I hope it will get to the right end. These people are seeing it, but since they are not directly affected. They cld care less about the masses.
